Job Description

1. Project Management:

  • Oversee team development efforts to ensure successful, iterative project delivery.
  • Establish and enforce procedures and processes for timely project completion.
  • Monitor and evaluate project and task progress, ensuring delivery commitments are met while maintaining transparent communication about risks or impediments.
  • Translate refined requirements into functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Money Forward Group and stakeholders to gather and document project requirements, develop user stories, provide estimates, and create delivery schedules.
  • Define and uphold standardized processes to ensure quality across all tasks and documentation.

2. Team and Department Management:

  • Manage a team of 30+ engineering professionals.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple engineering teams and departments for effective collaboration.
  • Set clear goals and objectives, providing guidance and support to achieve them.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.

3. Engineering Development:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent to build high-performing teams.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to help team members grow and advance in their careers.
  • Implement training programs to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the engineering team.
  • Define a vision and career roadmap for technical engineering aligned with business objectives.

4. Strategic Execution:

  • Align engineering efforts with the company’s overarching strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies to drive product innovation and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable seamless execution of engineering projects.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including product managers and business leaders, to align engineering initiatives with their requirements.
  • Communicate updates on project status, risks, and opportunities effectively to stakeholders.

6. Operational Excellence:

  • Improve and optimize engineering processes and methodologies for greater efficiency and productivity.
  • Enhance the engineering experience by refining the technical interview process and onboarding programs.
  • Promote the adoption of industry best practices and standards within the engineering organization.
  • Monitor and assess engineering project performance, ensuring timely and effective delivery.


Job Requirements:

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.
  • Language Proficiency: Strong command of English.
  • 10+ years managing web projects or product development.
  • 4+ years in people management and stakeholder management roles.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams of 30+ members (directly or indirectly).
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate large, complex, and frequent changes, ensuring the engineering team effectively meets evolving market demands.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Promotes diversity and inclusion, fostering a culture that values different perspectives.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: Strategically builds networks and develops strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance collaboration and drive success.
  • Risk Management: Creates and implements effective strategies to identify, mitigate, and manage high-risk initiatives, minimizing project risks.
  • Strategic Thinking: Exhibits strong strategic planning skills, aligning engineering efforts with the organization’s overarching goals.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Held leadership roles such as Department Manager, VP of Engineering, Head of Delivery, or CTO in an IT firm.
  • Experience managing or developing B2B applications.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Japanese (N1/N2) is a significant advantage.
