Application Engineer (Ruby)

• Design and develop software applications for both internal systems and external clients, primarily using Ruby.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, detailed design, coding, testing, and solution review.
• Apply established software design patterns to build scalable and maintainable subsystems.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to support documentation, research, and improve productivity across the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to development processes by integrating AI into tasks such as requirement analysis, coding, code review, and testing automation.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code while adhering to established coding standards.
• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure the reliability and quality of the application.
• Work closely with team members and escalate issues to senior developers or team leads when necessary.
• Participate in meetings and communicate effectively in basic English when discussing technical matters.
• Maintain a proactive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of software development with Ruby on Rails
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and system architecture.
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Experience in code analysis, investigation, detailed design, and solution review.
• Basic knowledge of containerization and cloud technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, S3, VPC), and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks accurately and within deadlines.
• Strong attention to coding standards and best practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly within the team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a team leadership role.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and security-focused code reviews.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) using RSpec.
• Familiarity with Redis for caching and search technologies such as Solr or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with modern frontend technologies such as Hotwire (Turbo, Stimulus) and Tailwind CSS.
• Strong database knowledge and ability to optimize database interactions.
• Ability to reuse and modularize system features and functions effectively.
• Experience creating test cases from specifications and executing tests based on defined test plans.
