Senior Java Engineer

• Collaborate with the Project Manager (PM) and development team to analyze product specifications, change requests, and new feature requirements.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from Outline Design, Detail Design, Development/Implementation, to Code Review, Unit Testing, and Release.
• Take ownership of designing technical solutions, database design, and implementing complex features.
• Perform code reviews, ensure code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Write and maintain technical documentation; contribute to improving coding standards and development processes.
• Support and mentor junior/middle developers; share best practices within the team.
• Coordinate with team members to resolve technical issues and improve system stability.
• May receive training and development opportunities to become a Principal Software Engineer.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the PM.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in web application development using:
• Languages: Java, JavaScript, jQuery
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL
• Frameworks: Spring, Spring Boot, Struts, Seasar2, Hibernate
• Strong experience in writing Unit Tests and building maintainable, testable code.
• Solid experience in code review and enforcing coding standards / best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Automation Testing tools: JUnit, Selenium, JMeter.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools: Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker.
• Ability to write clear technical documents, design specs, and share knowledge effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills; able to independently investigate and resolve complex technical issues.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in leading features/modules, mentoring team members, or acting as a team lead for small teams.
• Proficient in using AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to improve productivity.
• Good English reading comprehension skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and analyze clients' business requirements.
• Experience working with large-scale / enterprise databases.
• Familiarity with Japanese company workflows and working styles is an advantage.
