Job Description

1. Project Oversight

  • Guide teams to deliver iterative project outcomes successfully
  • Ensure adherence to processes and timelines for project delivery
  • Monitor and mitigate risks or obstacles that may impact deadlines
  • Translate requirements into detailed functional specifications
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to gather and document needs, define user stories, estimate timelines, and plan delivery
  • Establish and uphold processes and documentation standards to ensure quality

2. Team & Department Leadership

  • Manage a department of over 30 engineering professionals
  • Lead multiple teams to foster collaboration and efficiency
  • Define team objectives and provide direction and mentorship
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning

3. Talent Development

  • Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent
  • Provide coaching and career development support
  • Facilitate training initiatives to enhance technical capabilities
  • Create a long-term vision and career path aligned with business goals

4. Strategic Alignment

  • Ensure engineering strategies support the company’s overarching mission
  • Lead initiatives that promote innovation and successful project delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive execution

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (product, business, etc.) to align technical work with business needs
  • Maintain transparent and effective communication on progress, risks, and opportunities

6. Operational Efficiency

  • Optimize engineering processes and improve methodologies for greater productivity
  • Enhance technical interview and onboarding experiences
  • Champion best practices and standards across the engineering function
  • Monitor project performance, ensuring timely and efficient execution

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Background in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Information Systems
  • Proficiency in English
  • Proven experience in the Banking domain
  • 10+ years of experience in web project or product development
  • 4+ years in people and stakeholder management
  • Proven leadership of engineering teams of 20+ members
  • Strong adaptability in complex and evolving environments
  • Commitment to inclusive leadership and fostering diversity
  • Strong relationship-building skills across teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in risk mitigation and strategic planning

Preferred:

  • Experience in senior technical leadership roles (e.g., VP of Engineering, Head of Delivery, CTO)
  • Certifications like PMP, PgMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP
  • Background in B2B application development
  • Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1/N2) is a major advantage
