1. Needs Analysis & Business Consulting
- Engage directly with JP partners to collect, evaluate, and detail project needs.
- Grasp operational workflows, customer pain points, and strategic goals to recommend optimal systems.
- Evaluate specifications, establish project boundaries, and pinpoint cross-system impacts or risk factors.
- Convert operational needs into actionable tech specs for the engineering squad.
- Spot ambiguous details and take initiative in suggesting workarounds.
2. Communication Bridge with JP Stakeholders
- Join direct syncs and discussions with partners using the Japanese language.
- Act as a liaison to clarify specs, system constraints, and technical strategies between foreign clients and internal devs.
- Handle query resolution, defect logging, and continuous status updates with involved parties.
- Guarantee seamless synchronization between external customers and the local delivery center.
3. Documentation
- Draft and update analytical materials including:
- Needs Assessment
- Core Business Specs (instead of BRD)
- Feature Blueprints (instead of Functional Specification)
- Use Cases / Definition of Done (instead of User Stories / Acceptance Criteria)
- Operational / Technical Diagrams
- Screen mockups / UI drafts (if needed)
4. Project Delivery Support
- Partner with PMs, engineering, and testing units to verify accurate feature execution.
- Assist in troubleshooting throughout the coding, testing, and deployment lifecycles.
- Take part in architectural evaluations, test script checks, and UAT execution.
- Handle scope modifications and CR (Change Request) tracking.
5. Practice Improvement
- Guide and share knowledge with entry-level analysts.
- Play a role in optimizing internal workflows, standardizing forms, and elevating reporting guidelines within the department.
Requirements:
1. Experience & Background
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst/System Analyst in software development projects
- Experience working in software outsourcing or offshore development environments
- Proven track record of working directly with Japanese clients
2. Japanese Language Skills
- Japanese proficiency: JLPT N2 or above
- Ability to:
- Actively participate in meetings conducted in Japanese
- Read and understand business specifications and technical documents in Japanese
- Communicate, discuss, and clarify requirements directly with Japanese stakeholders
3. Core BA Skills
- Hands-on experience in:
- Requirements gathering
- Business analysis
- Functional specification definition
- Writing User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
- Supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Strong analytical thinking and excellent communication skills
4. Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of:
- Web and Mobile application development
- Databases and SQL queries
- API integrations
- Core system architecture concepts
- Familiarity with Cloud and DevOps practices is a strong advantage
5. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Lead Business Analyst or Senior Analyst
- Experience mentoring or guiding a team of BAs
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
