What you will do: 

  • Analyzing data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends regarding the product and category.
  • Creating and developing a strategic long term plan for the development of the category.
  • Building and driving relationships with key vendors to better pricing and quality of services, collaborating with buyers and merchandisers to expand product & sub-categories.
  • Forecasting new product demand, missing-product demand and reviewing product pricing to ensure they meet margin targets with healthy YoY growth.
  • Reviewing and monitoring category assortment performance and implementing various action plans for improvement.
  • Implementing various strategies through in-depth analysis of assortment, pricing, competitor analysis, and various other market information.
  • Working closely with sale teams to determine optimal pricing through analysis of sales trends, competitors, buying habits to promote sales opportunities.
  • Working closely with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and effective promotional activities of product category.
  • Finding opportunities to maximize the profitability of the business and conducting financial analysis, managing budget development and revenue for the category.
  • Gaining an in depth understanding of the industry, trends and competitive landscape.

What you should be good at:

  • BSc/BA in business administration, marketing or related field;
  • Proven experience as category manager or similar role;
  • Commercial mindset, solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong people management and persuasion skills to manage and influence at all levels of the company;
  • An excellent grasp of spatial, design, and promotional planning;
  • Ability to write well and generate reports on market activity;
  • Ability to think from a consumer & retailer perspective and understand buying behavior;
  • An analytical mind with strategic ability, creative, and goal-driven thinking;
  • Deep understanding of the market and consumer insights and trends.
