We’re looking for an Industrial Packaging Engineer to develop high quality, functional and innovative packaging solutions for our furniture, developing excellent internal cross functional relationships as well as external vendor partnerships to facilitate the successful execution of packaging considering all aspects from end to end. 

With a deep understanding of the Article brand, the North American Furniture market and packaging requirements, you will share best practices and apply your expertise on packaging standards and materials, manufacturing capabilities, and value engineering solutions.

What You'll Do

• Generating detailed packaging models/technical drawings using Solid works, based on Concept models/technical drawings created by Product Design Team and legacy packaging information provided by Vendors.
• Ensure the design of the packaging maximizes product protection, able to withstand Article’s quality expectations and rigorous drop test standards.
• Implement smart packaging solutions that increase the container load ability of our product and reduction in inefficiencies from the factory to the customer.
• Constantly pursue innovative packaging solutions that reduce the environmental impact and focus on minimizing costs while not compromising quality.
• Coordinate with vendors regarding packaging design, troubleshooting, logistics issues and validation testing.
• Ensure standardization of packaging design across vendors.
• Contribute to the lessons learned and help build robust packaging guidelines.
• Assess high damage rate products and implement solutions that will keep damage rates low.
• Look for new ways to delight customers and the ensure unpacking process is as easy as possible.

• You have 5+ years of experience working in a similar role.
• You are an expert industrial engineer having excellent problem solving ability with a wide knowledge of furniture packaging materials.
• Advanced proficiency with CAD tools (Solid Works).
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Experience with cross functional communication mainly with Product Development Team, Quality, Warehouse and Vendors.
• You can implement and drive standardization of construction, parts and components across Article’s products and drive continuous improvement.
